Woke Up Elevated Heart Rate, Sweating, Shocks, Extreme Exhaustion. High BP Patient, Have Headaches, Facial Numbness. Any Ideas ?

Hi, I am 29 years old have worked out intensely for the past year and am reletively healthy. I weigh 250 and have had high blood pressure. I woke up one night with elevated heart rate, blood pressure, sweating and shock. I stayed asleep. I developed extreme exhaustion and blood pressure remained high. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me Atenolol. After a week of using Atenolol I developed severe headaches and my doctor couldn't figure out what was causing it so he prescribed me lisinopril but that didn't help the irregular heart beat, so I was put back on Atenolol but on a lower dose and still had headaches. I've had a CT scan with and without dye, an MRI, a Echocardiogram, a Nuclear Stress test and everything has shown to be fine but I still have headaches and 2 occurances of facial numbness, jaw pain, left arm burning caused by a throbbing blood vessel in my head that later distributes that pain and burning sensation. I have also developed needle tingling pain in my arms and legs and a tense neck. The ER doctor says there is no medical explanation for it. But in his report he said it was anxiety or peripheral neuropathy. I haven't seen a Neurologist yet but I would like to get an idea if this is right. I wake up with headaches, twitching nerves, irregular heart beat at times, throbbing pain in the blood vessels in the scalp and left arm, pressure in the eyes accompanied by needle Sharp pains, pain in the back of my head when chewing something tough, neck and behind my leg tensiĆ³n, leg cramping when jogging, GERD, chest pressure when lean foward to lift something. These are most of the symptoms (may have missed a few). Any ideas? I would really like to start feeling normal and get back to my work outs and normal life! Thank you!

The symptoms you describe definitely warrant a physical examination. Reading through them I am of the opinion you should rule out any vasculitic conditions first. Like Giant Cell arteritis. They could present in varied manifestations like this.

I'd also advice my patients to get an ANA profiling done to rule out any auto immune conditions.

I recommend you should visit a Rheumatologist and get yourself examined and do the tests like ANA profiling.
