Worn A Night Guard. Been Waking Up With Visible Bleeding, Discomfort And Swelling. Help?
I ve worn a nightguard for a few years due to nighttime grinding of my teeth . I got a new nightguard from my dentist a few months ago, and it feels comfortable. Oddly, I ve woken up a few times in the past few weeks to find a good amount of blood on half of the inside of my nightguard. I cannot figure out where the blood is coming from - I have no visible bleeding , pain, discomfort, or swelling in my mouth. Where could the blood be coming from, and should I be concerned?

hii
it seems that your night guard is not properly adapted to your teeth. the blood of which you are complaining might be because of trauma caused by your night guard on the gingiva (gums) during your sleep.
it is nothing to worry about, slight trimming of the night guard would solve your problem.
consult your dentist for the needful.

as you say there isn't any kind of pain or discomfort means the bleeding isn't caused by night gaurd , because some times if the night guard is ill fitted it might poke on the gum to cause bleeding and pain.
i believe you need a thorough dental cleaning , it might be a possibility that you have developed calculus in that area which is causing gum infection and bleeding.
make sure you keep proper oral hygiene and sterilize your night guard every morning with denture cleansing kit as unclean night guard carries lot of invisible germs and bacteria causing dental infections.
make sure you brush twice daily and at night after brushing take half cup luke warm water add hallf tbs salt to it and rinse well ur moth with it everyday for 10 days.
some time bleeding is cause due to vit. c deficiency (have lot of citrus fruits and leafy vegetables) or due to hormonal changes in PUBERTY AND *PREGNANCY(*in women).
visit the dentist for a check up and cleaning.

Hello there...it is very clear that you might have sharp margins on the inner surface of your night guard....That would have been traumatizing your mucosa resulting in bleed...visit your dental surgeon and get it smoothened..Dont worry...
