Would An MRI Be Able To Detect The Cause For Stomach Pain Post Colostomy?

My 56 year old son had a colostomy reversal last November. He started having severe pain and bloating in the area of the surgery and it continues to get worse. He was on opioids for the pain and thought that might be causing it and went to a 5 day detox program but it continues to cause such severe pain that he can t sit and has been to the emergency room five times in the past couple of months. They do cat scans but can t find a problem and send him home on pain medication. Would an m.r.i. be able to see what the problem is. He is getting desparate. He has an appointment with a gastro doctor in a couple of weeks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. Yes he needs the MRI since it will show what I think is his problems--adhesions from the surgery that are partially obstructing his intestines. He may need yet another surgery to loosen his intestines from those adhesions
