Hi,
Clomid and HCG injections prescribed would have helped your ovaries in the process of maturation and release of ovum.
Duphaston tablet is a synthetic progestogen 'Dydrogesterone'. It has a similar action to the female hormone,
progesterone.
Following fertilization, progesterone is the hormone which would help in the process of
implantation and continuing with the pregnancy.
Since its production is subnormal in cases of PCOS, its supplementation externally would be essential. Its supplementation would help to reduce the risk of miscarriages or abortions.
That was the reason why your doctor had prescribed to take, as, if at all you had conceived, it would have helped in continuing with the pregnancy.
Since you have stopped it prematurely, it might have caused
breakthrough bleeding.
It would be difficult to say as to whether you had conceived or not, as that could have only been confirmed by your blood beta-hCG levels and
ultrasound scan at a later date.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
