Would Increased Dosage Of Synthroid Help In Weight Reduction?
Hello Dr. I am a retired RN, age 68, my thyroid was removed June 2015 due to presence of cancerous cells found during biopsy. I am currently taking 178 mcg. Synthroid. I have been on a high protein, low carb diet followed closely for 3 mos. and have only lost 3 lbs. I walk 1/2 mile daily. Will increasing the Synthroid help me to lose weight? I just have no metabolism and am so very frustrated. Appreciate any insights/help.

I really appreciate your concern, what the medicine you are taking may not for reducing the weight and you are not suppose to increase the dose of it instead you can reduce the calorie in diet and do exercise hope this information helps.
