Would Smoking Result In Weight Gain And Sleeplessness?

hello doctors,
I'm a 32 year old male that quit smoking about 7 months ago, but has noticed that I'm gaining weight quickly and I'm at the point where being in a active lifestyle is a must to loose weight.. Up until a week ago ... I started getting "wild" symptoms like the taste of water is revolting and most food ends up being rejected . always being thirsty and with nothing to drink without having a bad reaction is my top two symptoms. Others are charlie-horses when waking up from "sleep" I have sleeping problems to top it off ... Is there anything that you Doctors can think of that will send me back into the right direction to at least being able to drink water again ?

Hi there, first let me congratulate you for quitting smoking. Generally whenever quits smoking it leads to nicotine withdrawal as cigarettes contain nicotine. Your symptoms are due to nicotine withdrawal. Yeah quitting smoking leads to weight gain. You can do exercises to control it. Gastric irritation and nausea are your two top symptoms which are again due to nicotine withdrawal. To reduce these symptoms you can drink water in small amounts, take food in small amounts, reduce spicy and oily food. If symptoms still does not reduce then you can take antacid medications. Your sleep problems are also because of nicotine withdrawal.
