Would Taking Prevener 13 Cause Elevated Rashes With Redness On Arm?

My mother, 58yrs old, had her prevenar 13 vaccination 4days ago, just today she developed elevated rashes with redness and pain on the arm near her injection site. Is it still an allergic reaction to the vaccine? Is warm compress and intake of antihistamine tablet ok? She has fever now.

Hi...you are right. This seems to be an allergic reaction to the vaccine. No need to give warm compresses. You can continue antihistamine tablets for another 2 days. Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
If fever is still persisting after 7 days or if there is increasing redness or welling or rash at the injection site, kindly approach your physician.
