Hi I m wondering if Doxycycline - the tetracycline antibiotic - will help plaque and inverse psoriasis. I have red scales of psoriasis on my face and in the folds of my skin. I m healthy and of average weight. I ve been researching that psoriasis is parasites and bacteria which tetracycline claims to help treat. I live in a cold climate which doesn t help. If I m in a tropical humid climate my skin tends to sweat out the toxins and my psoriasis disappears.Any suggestions to get rid of the discomfort and occasional bleeding (I ve tried a lot of things!)
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease. It is not caused by parasites and fungus. However some infections can precipitate it. Psoriasis is basically treatedwith emollients, topical steroids and oral immunosuppressants. Only in guttate psoriasis, we use an antibiotic erythromycin. Please meet a dermatologist, psoriasis can be treated and controlled with medicines. Take care
