Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Would There Be Internal Ear Damage If Hit By A Squash Ball?
I was hit in the ear with a squash ball this morning. I have loss of hearing on that side with constant ringing. Externally my eart is very red, and I placed a cold compress straight on it. Could I have done any internal damage and whill the ringing improve?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that the symptoms of loss of hearing and ringing after getting hit seems to be due to perforation in eardrum..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case of small perforation you can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers, decongestants oral and nasal sprays.. In case of large perforation surgical repair that is Tympanoplasty can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
