Wrist Xray Done, Advanced Osteoarthritis, Osteoarthorsis Affects The Distal Radiolunar Joint. What Does This Mean?
My husband had an xray of his wrist that came back with this: Advanced osteoarthrosis. Significant widening of the scaphoid lunate interval. Destruction of the proximal carpal row compatible with a stablwe lunate advanced collapse pattern (SLAC). Chondrocalcinosis . Prominent subchondral cyst involving the distal radius. Osteoarthorsis also affects the distal radiolunar joint . What does this mean?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Mukesh Chugh's Response
Hi Thanks for writing your query The description given by you is suggestive of arthritis that is roughening of joint. These all are technical words please do not go by them. My advice would be - 1. Gentle exercise along with hot water fomentation with pain killer on SOS basis and wrist brace. 2. Dietary supplement like glucosamine may be taken. If the suffering remains then one may choose the option of joint fusion (arthodesis) after discussion with your local doctor. Take care Regards Dr.chugh http://bit.ly/drmchugh
