Yellow And Green Discharge, Looks Like Yeast Infection. Taking Iodine Gel, On Cefixime. Is It Safe To Use?

I'm in another country and a little scared to go to the doctor. I've not had sex for a very long while and definitely not here... a month ago I noticed a yellow with slight green on toilet paper and comes in small to medium chunks. I went to the local pharmacy and purchased iodine gel inserts - I told the pharmacist as best I could in their language what I was experiencing - they gave me cefixime 100mg tablets and told me to take two a day along with inserts. I did both for about 4 days. It worked. Two weeks later I noticed the same discharge again and I used the cefixime again since I was supposed to take it longer than 4 days, with no iodine inserts. It worked again. Then two weeks later, after my period finished a couple of days ago the discharge returned. It doesn't have an odor (only remnants of period) but is small chunky and I can't quite say it's greenish it's definitely more yellow looks like mucus from noise when you have a very bad head or sinus cold. If I were in the states I'd go to an obgyn in a heart beat but I'm not and I'm worried to go to a doctor here where I don't speak the language. It sort of reminds me of yeast infection except it's yellow and wee bit green? If it is yeast then the antibiotics are probably making it worse? Is it safe to keep self treating until I return to states? - that is two months from now!

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Better to consult gynecologist there, possibly they can understand if you explain in English.
You may need one vaginal swab to find out the causative organism as you are having recurrent infection.
And you once think about these things:
-As you got getting the infection after periods, is there any relation with sanitary pads.
-Is there any chance of skin to skin contact in spreading the infection.
If you rectify these problems recurrence can be prevented.

Take care.
