Yes..I am a Nurse Practitioner with Diabetes Specialty. OUR OB docs are not testing blood sugars on the GDM;s post delivery while still in hospital Resources state that they should be tested 24 to 72 hrs after delivery. They are not satisfied with the AACE resource...they say it is confusing?>>>> Well in the meantime we are in a high risk population of Hispanics who many that are DX with GDM actually have type2 diabetes. They have not been checking BS post delivery. Consequently, we send patients home undiagnosed with hyperglycemia and perhaps an episiotomy and c section to heal? Worst of all many of the population we see will not be going for any follow up. Help me with a resource to convince them of the INPATIENT care of the GDM/Possible Type2. PLEASE...Charlotte Hodge 40 yrs a diabetes focused nurse.
