Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my baby is 5 weeks old. his bilirubin total level is 21.5 and the bilirubin indirect total is 2.0. hemoglobin is 8.6 hematocrit is 24.9 wbc 8.8 neutrophils 25.1 lymphocytes 64.4 monocytes 10.5 platelets 279. what does this mean?
Hi welcome to Healthcare Magic ...
Bilirubin of > 21.5 g/dl is really a matter of concern in a 5 week old baby.
Other disturbing factor is the heamoglobin level of 8.6 g/l .It looks either she is having a heamolytic disorder - i.e blood is getting destroyed in her body(eg:Hereditary Spherocytosis) or she is loosing blood in her body.So a Peripheral smear , Direct coombs test would be other priliminary tests to diagnose the cause of hyperbilirubinemia.
Get a pediatrician consultation , this may be something of concern , needing urgent management.
Please do not delay and take appropriate treatment...
Thank you ...Hope i was helpful.
