Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, I am 32 and for some time I have been suffering sever pain during ovulation. I had a scan and was told my left ovary is enlarged and swollen but they couldn't tell me why. They have offered no further tests. The pain usually lasts only through my ovulation period and sometimes leave me barely able to move! However I had unprotected sex on the 1st day of my 6 day ovulation window, I am now due on in 6 days time. Since ovulation the pain this time has not gone away and I have been experiencing some pretty bad cramps. Especially yesterday at 7 days before period is due. I have been extremely bloated and had terrible lower back pain and pain at the tops of the thighs, which I put down to the abdominal pain spreading. I don't know what my chances would be of becoming pregnant as unprotected intercourse at the 1st day of the ovulation window is slim. We are not opposed to having another child. But could you please advise me on what i should do. I am worried about the amount of pain because my mother had cervical and ovarian cancer. My doctors don't seem alarmed by the amount of pain I am in and just advise me to take paracetamol or ibuprofen! I don't want to live on painkillers for the week of ov and menstral week! I have kidney problems so I don't feel taking pain killers for two weeks out of every month is a good thing. My cervical mucus as this point is coming thick and fast, very white with no smell or itching. It seem thicker than usual and has increased in amounts compared to usual. But the pain is unbearable. Please advise me what to ask my doctor for in terms of help.
