i AM taking Keflex right now, and wondering if I could take a higher dosage as I have learned I have an Enterococcus kidney infection. It seems to be working, the nausea is down a little. I am wondering if I could take higher dosages, only taking 250 mg. 3 times a day. I have had meningitis and also bacterial endocarditis in the past when younger. Am now 84, but healthy. Yet i contracted Enterococcus (lab report) and docs dont seem to 'get it'. They prescribed Cipro, Azithromycin and Macrobid. Horrible side effects from Macrobid, Cipro and Azith did not work at al. Keflex is working some and I want to increase the dosages but I am always careful . I have no doc who really cares or is trying to help me. I am no nurse, but I read a lot and have literally saved my life twice through reading and trying things when I had Meningitis and Bact. Endocarditis. I get a kidney infection now once a year and this is a doozy.. I must take this very seriously. So I have had the nausea for 6 weeks now and it has been recorded through a lab report as Enterococcus. I only took the other 3 anti-b's about 3 days and they did not work so I stopped taking them. I am now taking 250 mg. 3 times a day and want to increase it but not sure I should I think I might be okay? Also drinking cranberry juice, taking 2 Azo capsules once a day. And a multi vite. drinking or trying to drink lots of water, no fever but I do not run fevers even when I am seriously ill (endocarditis - no fever, not treated because of the no fever thing) (1970). Thats about it.
