i was in hospital last week with gallstones, one got stuck but has passed so i have an operation to remove my gallbladder on tuesday but i am due to fly to portugal on thursday for a wedding and I’m getting so many different opinions i really don’t know what to believe or what to do?
the nhs websites and leaflets say 48 hours before flying, my health visitor says 48 hours, my hospital is saying 2 weeks and the admin team at the surgery are saying 6 weeks and my gp says a week so i really don’t know what is right.
when I’ve researched it the risk of dvt is higher which i understand but whats the difference between sitting on a flight for 2 hours or sitting at home for 2 hours? because if the only risk is increased dvt i can take all the steps to help by drinking lots of water, walking about (which ill need to do with olivia anyway) and wearing the stockings.. do you know by how much is the risk increased and how likely is it?
my gp mentioned that its something to do with the gas they pump into me during keyhole surgery and the cabin pressure but i didn’t quite understand.
my other option is to delay the op so i can go and be really careful about what i eat but i don’t know how likely another attack is since i have had no pain at all since my attack on 5th july. i have codeine prescribed for the pain if required.
so sorry for all the questions, i was just wondering if you could shed some light because I’m getting myself stressed.
