Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
mri report 68 y old mri of the brain pt lives in another country im helping her wth impresion white matter gliosis and or microvascular disease, bilateral ethimoidal, sphenoidal maxilary and frontal sinusitis, bilateral maxillary retention cyst how to explain
The MRI report shows sinusitis of all the four sinuses (frontal, sphenoidal, maxillary and ethmoidal sinus). It also shows a cyst (benign) in the maxillary sinus. Retention cysts are commonly asymptomatic but if it is causing discomfort like, nasal obstruction, headache, facial pain, repeated sinus infections, etc. then it may require removal by surgery.
Gliosis occurs when glial cells cause scars in the brain that impact how the body works (co-ordination, temporary memory loss, depression, etc). You are suggested to let the patient get treated for sinus and get the cyst removed if symptomatic. Get the patient be clinically examined, get few blood tests and urinalysis done so that treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
