My Girlfriend's 10 Year Old Son Had Bruising On His

my girlfriend's 10 year old son had bruising on his thighs above his knee. There are about 5-6 on each thigh, almost directly across from each other. We asked him if he had been hit or been climbing on something that would cause this, and his answer was 'no'. He usually will tell us if he had any altercations with another child at school. And, it seems to me that if it was due to climbing up on something, it would just be one bruise on each leg. He has been on a medicine for about 60 days prescribed to help him focus. It is a non-narcotic. What are other possibilities for the bruising?
