Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my son just turned 14. he has always been a very tall kid and has numerous ailments attributed to "growing too fast". He was 6' 4.5" at our doctor visit last week. About 8 weeks ago, his back started hurting him right after a strength training class in which they were performing overhead power squats. He has now been out of school for nearly 8 weeks as he cannot sit for more than a few minutes without severe pain. He has had an MRI which showed 3 bulging discs but the doctors found them "unremarkable". After 6+ weeks of therapy, he has barely improved at all. His pain is still at a 6-7 most of the time on a 10 point scale and has not been below when lying down and on his best day. He has also had blood in his stool for the second time in the past couple of months. It was originally thought it was due to constipation, but a doctor visit today ruled that out. We are now waiting for a CT Scan approval from out insurance and blood work. thanks in advance for any input.
