Swimming With My Period
okay so im 14. i just got my period for the first time yesterday. tomorrow, i have to go swimming for the fourth of july with my family, and some family friends, and possibly my best friend. i highly doubt my period will go away after three days, so i have to go swimming. and it would be SO embarissing if i couldnt swim beacuse im on my period.. and i know you have to wear a tampon. right? but im afraid to put a tampon in!!! i think i have one, but i dont want to get TSS, or it come out while im in the pool, or the little string show out of my bathing suit...what do i do?? :( pleease, please help. ALSO* i dont have a mom, just a dad and brother. no girls i can talk to about this.. okay thanks to all whos answerd!! but also..i DID tell my dad, yesterday, (it was very weird..ha ha) so he does know, thats kind of a hard secret to keep. lol. but yeah i just wanted to thank y all SOO much! :)

If the tampon is put in correctly then it won't slip out just change the tampon every 2-8 hours depending on your flow
TSS happens when your tampon is left in for more than 8 hours the tampon creates a moist environment that bacteria can grow in ... you won't get it if you change your tampon every 2 - 8 hours :)
