hello there
Welcome to HealthcareMagic. Its indeed difficult to lose weight when one is hypothyroid and also having insulin resistance as hypothyroidism slows down the body's ability to process carbohydrates and also cell's ability to absorb the sugar from blood and so is the state of Insulin resistance which prevents body from using its stored fat for energy. Certain facts need to be borne in mind prior to diet modification like your TSH be preferably in a range of 1-2.There should not be interference of drugs you are on, kind of diet you taking with absorption of hormones you take. With advice of your physician, you may even start on T3 supplements if required. Now about diet, you may try having a low fat, low carbohydrate and sufficient amount of protien. Try restricting on rice , potatoes, pastas, canned products with high sugar content, confectionarries etc.Hope i could answer your query. Wishing you a good health and fitness.Take care.
