General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The reports suggests possibility of what is known as metabolic syndrome or syndrome X. The condition is prevalent in most developed and developing countries, similar to type 2 diabetes and hypertension. This is an umbrella term for describing various multiple endocrine abnormalities combined together. The most common symptoms includes lethargy due decreased thyroid activity, dark neck, weight gain and infertility to list a few. Management plan includes weight loss, increasing physical activity, lowering calorie intake and need based prescription of metformin. In addition, daily low dose vitamin D supplementation will help treating vitamin D deficiency.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
