Is Bleeding During Pregnancy Symptom Of Miscarriage?
I am 5 weeks pregnant. I started bleeding last sunday. the best way to describe the bleed is that it was like a light period.I had cramps, blood was red but about half as much as a normal period. the bleeding lasted 2.5 days. I now have cramps and feeling very tired. I went to my emergency room and they have booked a scan for next wednesday. Is it possible I have had a miscarriage?
Hello and welcome to HCM, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
I understand your concern. The bleeding most likely suggests that you are having a miscarriage. There are different type of abortions. In a condition called threatened abortion there is bleeding but the baby is well. In this case drugs like progesterone and HCG injections are very useful along with bed rest. In inevitable and missed abortion the pregnancy cannot be saved.
So until you wait for the scan you may discuss this with your doctors and start these drugs. If the baby is well, then the pregnancy may continue.
I Hope this was helpful in answering your query. Take care. Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help. Thanks for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
