Does Cabbage Leaves Help In Relieving Breast Engorgement?
My daughter had a baby and is really engorged she has a slight fever and is taking M otrin for pain . I heard about the cabbage leaves relieving engorgement. However she has on her auxilary of her armpits two more milk glands that are really tender to the touch that is where a lot of the pain is coming from . If they are clogged she has already pumped and put ice and now were going to try the cabbage will this be enough or does she need to seek medical attention?
She should place a warm compress on her breasts just before feeding for about 10 minutes. This would encourage the milk to flow out. If the baby is not ready to fed at this point, she may also want to express the milk to decrease the tension.
Cold packs between feeds,as you are doing would also help.
In some cases, rarely, infection can occur. If the fever and pain persists she should seek medical attention.
I hope this helps
