What is Shaken baby syndrome?

Shaken baby syndrome (SBS) is a triad of medical findings of retinal hemorrhage, cerebral edema, and subdural hematoma. It happens when an adult shakes a child vigorously. SBS is often fatal and can cause severe brain damage, resulting in lifelong disability.
