2 Days Child Is Skipping A Heart Beat. What Are The Complication?
Thanks for writing in.
When any one (a neonate, an infant, a child or an adult) skips a beat, it is called heart beating out of normal rhythm or arrhythmia. Arrhythmias in fetuses and newborns are relatively common, occurring in up to 90% of newborns and in 1% to 3% of pregnancies. Although life-threatening arrhythmias are uncommon, one should be aware of the more common disorders of rhythm and conduction that can affect fetuses and neonates. In most review studies, the healthy newborn electrocardiogram (ECG) had usually shown mostly benign and non life-threatening disorders of cardiac rhythm, including premature atrial and ventricular contractions. EKG in some minority also revealed those arrhythmia which need treatment (immediate or later in life) like atrioventricular block, congenital complete heart block, supraventricular tachycardias, ventricular tachycardias, and long QT syndrome. Unless the later rhythm is documented and/or echocardiography shows any associated structural abnormality. Short of that one should simply not worry.
If you have any other query, I will be most happy to answer that asap.
