Are Broken Down Amino Acids Replenished Completely On Periodic Basis?
I want to know how long does broken down' amino acids stay in our body if used and recycled to make newer amino acids. Is it possible a part of amino acid is immortal since it can constantly be reused and recycled again and again for rest of our life? or is there a time and point when the body discards it completely?
Nothing is immortal

Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I am Dr.Barani and I am pleased to assist you.
Nothing in the body is immortal.
Amino acids are the basic units of protein. Once they get absorbed they are utilized to form enzymes, hormones and other complex proteins. These in turn are utilized in various metabolic pathways and cell organization.
Some of the amino acids are synthesized in the body and certain others are are to be provided from external sources and these are called essential amino acids.
So amino acids are not immortal. They are transformed in to complex chemicals which are utilized for various functions in the body.

Does this mean that particular amino acid is forever in our cartilage ?
Thanks and Best Regards
Difficult to say
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It is difficult to say
Some degree of remodeling occurs in cartilage also though not at the same pace as say the GI tract. So theoretically amino acid would be replaced in cartilages also at some point of time.
