Are Constant Weight Gain, Pitting In Legs, Swollen Lower Stomach And Painful Knees, Co-related ?

Thanks for your query.
As you are leading an active and healthy lifestyle with four miles of walk daily, you should not be the one to gain weight so fast.
It is really nice that you are so conscious about your diet and fitness. But before I suggest you anything I need to know a few things about you-
1. You have reported that you are 5' 2" with weight around 12 stones. It would be better if you could specify your exact weight. Approximate weight may not be very helpful in calculating your BMI..
2. What kind of a diet do you prefer- Veg or non-veg.
3. Are you having periods regularly?
4. Are you using birth control pills?
5. Have you ever got your blood pressure checked? If yes, what were the readings?
6. Do you have any history of any renal problem in the past?
7. Have you ever considered going for a cardiac workout?
8. When did you last tests your blood for diabetes and thyroid?
Your answers will help me to suggest a better opinion with regards to your problem.
Anticipating your response
Regards.

1. I am 12st 12lbs
2. I eat chicken, XXXXXXX pork with veg. No pasta. Sometimes I have rice and maybe 2 to 3 slices of bread a week.
3. My periods have always been 28days exact but in the last few months they have been anything between 8 days late to 7days early.
4. No I am not on any form of birth control.
5. My blood pressure is always very good normally 120/70.
6.Not that i know off.
7. I do a lot of cardio in the training I do, it consists of both cardio, strength and flexability.
8. Last tests were approx 1 month ago.
Something else I forgot to mention last time was, for the amount of fluid I drink in a day I hardly urinate. For example today I had 2 litres of water and only went to the toilet once and onlvery small amount came out, and this is with taking the water tablets. I used to urinate very reguarly. I BMI is over 30 which is not good at all for my lifestyle. I am an athletic build and have always been sporty but my normal size is a 10. Can I please stress that I eat healthy to benefit from the inside out so I am not eating healthy just as a quick fix it is my way of life. I also forgot to mention I am having accupuncture in the hope that this will help. The pitting on my legs hasn't improved at all. Please help.
Thanks for writing back.
It is not necessary that what ever fluids we take, we will pass almost same amount of urine also. There is continuous insensible loss of water occurring from our body in the form of sweat, etc. May be this loss is a bit on the higher side in your case due to the exercise you do. But this does not seem to explain the weight gain.
So, I would suggest you to go for the renal function tests and an ultrasound scan to know the position of your kidneys.
This will throw some light on the problem you have.
Hope I have answered your query. I will be available if you have any further queries.
