Are Dizziness, Loss Of Balance, Nausea And Lightheadedness Symptoms Of Cervical Spondylosis?

Question: Respected Dr. Tayal:

Thank you for your expert guidance on the back issues I was experiencing on or about August 7th after my second herniated disk back surgery. I have followed your advice and am trying to get "adequate rest" so I may heal properly. I am pursuant to my physio's advice, JUST walking for the next 5 weeks and that will put me at 4 months post surgery. The inflammation seems to be ebbing but occasionally it XXXXXXX up especially after I wake up in the morning. (bad sleep posture I assume?) I was wondering if you can answer another question that is not related to my back. A few days ago, I woke up and the room was spinning and I lost my balance. I did extensive blood work and all vitals came back normal. I do not have blurred vision or ringing in my ear, but I do have bouts of nausea that do not last long at all. In light of the fact that I have already given a blood and urine test, could my dizziness, lightheadedness and loss of balance be (ONLY) be due to seasonal allergies? Any advice you can offer would be appreciated including what kind of a physician I need to speak to in order to discuss my symptoms. (My GP whom ordered the blood test thinks it is allergies and nothing to be concerned about) Gratefuly, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Can be due to cervical spondylosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The dizziness, lightheadedness and loss of balance that you had is less likely to be related to seasonal allergies. This could be related to mild spondylottic changes in the cervical spine. Using a pillow and abnormal neck positions at night can aggravate this. An MRI scan of the neck can help in finding out the extent of changes in the spine. Your orthopedician can help you regarding this.
Cervical isometric exercises are beneficial to maintain the strength of the neck muscles. Neck and upper back stretching exercises, as well as light aerobic activities, also are recommended under the guidance of a physical therapist.
I hope this answers your query.
