Are Headaches And Redness In Eyes Side Effects Of Norlevo?
Question: Hello doctor!
Around an hour after the condom broke, I took the emergency contraception pill 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel (brand name: Norlevo).
Had my period on Oct 11th, lasts 6-7 days, cycle of 28-30 days.
I am not on any kind of birth control, not taking any medication and have no allergies.
This might be a normal side effect or just me panicking, I have bad headache and my left eye is red and kind of itchy. anything I should worry about?

- anything else I should take or do or not do?

Headache is a known side effect of this pill although it's occurrence due to some viral infection cannot be ruled out at this time. Since you are telling your left eye is red and itchy there is a possibility of viral infection. Take Paracetamol 500 mg 6th hourly after food for next 2 days. This headache should reduce in a day or two.
If headache worsens or does not reduce then this pill is not the cause for your headache. Then you need to consult a doctor for a detailed clinical check-up.
Emergency contraceptive pill is more than 95% effective in preventing pregnancy.
