Brief Answer:
both the route of injections are not different.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,

I have read your query and understand the convener,

First of all,I would like to explain you that intragluteal injection is actually a intramuscular injection.

Means both the route of injections are not different.

Intragluetal injection is given on the buttock muscles and that muscles are known as gluetal muscles which is one kind of intramuscular injection.

Means both the routes are same.

However, you can just let me where (at which site of body) your first 3 doses of Rabipur injections were given and where the 4th one.

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra

Brief Answer:
No difference.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome again,

Both injection routes are intramuscular and there is no difference at all.

Rabipur can also be given on arm muscles (i.e on deltoid),no need to worry.

but in the detailed package leaflet it is given that the vaccine must not be given by intragluteal (in the gluteal muscle ) injection . you say nothing to worry

Brief Answer:
Usually we prefer and recommend to give Rabipur vaccine in arm

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome again,

I can understand your worry about the intragluteal route.

Usually we prefer and recommend to give Rabipur vaccine in arm (in deltoid muscle) due to complete and faster absorption but there is no issue if you had taken it on buttocks. There is NO absolute contraindication to it.

You can take further doses (5th dose) in arm and do not worry as you are fully immunized to rabies.

You can complete your vaccinations.
