Question : Im pretty sure i have angina as a result o atherosclerosis. Walking and moderate excersice recently has caused the tightness and shortness o breath in the central chest area. I have also experienced very short lasting mild chest pain. The angina i experienced once a couple months ago, then it went away and now it has returned and it is more recurrent. This past week i have noticed when i walk quickly my chest almost definitely gets tighter.

                                    Brief Answer:
There is a need for stress test
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
In your age atherosclerosis and angina are not common.
Usually such symptoms are relates to other problems, such as spine, lung problems etc.
Anyway, if you are very concerned and have typical effort angina, I would advise you to have a stress test done. In case of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease it will be positive. If it is negative you should search for another problem and never think about coronary artery disease for 5 years.
Wishing you good health

Thank you for the reply. I understand that at my age it is uncommon, but i feel that due to poor lifestyle choices such as smoking and occasional recreational drug use i have accelerated the process.
I have just quit smoking and am addressing all other beneficial lifestyle changes, however I am still very concerned as the majority of symptoms i have been experiencing match up with heart disease and cardiac related issues. Also, are stress tests usually performed at the doctor's surgery or will i be referred to the hospital?
Thankyou.
