Q1
Can you give me any insight as to what else may be the cause?
What you have is most probably Restless Leg Syndrome. In RLS the dysesthesias and restlessness are much worse in the evening or night compared to the daytime and frequently interfere with the ability to fall asleep.
The symptoms appear with inactivity and are temporarily relieved by movement. You have this classical feature where you have to walk around to help relieve the hurting
From What you have told so far, it appears that the Diagnosis of the Restless Leg Syndrome is Correct
Other Illnesses with Similar Symptoms would be 1. Peripheral Neuropathy 2. Cramps due to Electrolyte Disturbances
How to Proceed : You have to consult your doctor and do a Blood Biochemistry. You have to specifically check for Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Iron and Hemoglobin Levels
If any of the above are deficient, that has to be corrected first
This condition Restless Leg Syndrome Can be Managed by Prescription Drugs like Pramipexole, Ropinirole, Opioids, Benzodiazepines, Gabapentin etc
