Are Poor Reactions To Anesthesia After A Hysterectomy In A PTSD Patient Normal?

Question: My doctor kept me overnight after my day-surgery hysterectomy because she was worried about me having reaction to anesthesia / pain medication r/t PTSD. Didn't know this was something I needed to worry about (she didn't see I had PTSD till anesthesia pointed it out). Otherwise I was ready to go home (actually less pain than when I walked in - yea surgery was needed). Kinda glad later that she kept me because I started throwing up about 0200 the next AM.
Is it common for someone with PTSD to have poor reactions to anesthesia or pain medications?

Brief Answer:
Problems related to central nervous system may interfere.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HeathcareMagic.
Anesthesia paralyzes the central nervous system (CNS). So, any problem of the CNS, including PTSD can mess with the anesthesia or may precipitate associated problems. Hence the caution. As the anesthesia and surgery are already completed uneventfully you need not get concerned.
During or after surgery the pain medication includes opiates and opioids which may have the side effect of nausea and vomiting. It is quite common but it not something that you need to be concerned about.
Let me know if I could help further.
