Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I am planning on getting a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation . I am nervouse because i was told that ill be going under general anesthesia. And my friend tell me that general anesthesia causes death. How can i know is it will be safe for me.
General anesthesia is only given to those patients who are healthy and their bodies are able to take it (the risk of dying is 1 in 100000 patients). It can cause problems only of patients have a strong co morbidity history like uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled BP, extreme obesity etc. You should not worry as the anesthetist will take your detailed history before letting you undergo general anesthesia.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Hiba Tehrim, General & Family Physician
