Are Radiating Back Pain And Palpitations Symptoms Of Heart Disease?
Over the past month I've been experiencing (i don't even know if this is a heart attack or what) shortness of breath, lighheadedness, fatigue, chest pain, numbness and coldness on my hands and feet.
I was rushed to the ER twice in the last 30 days because I was hyperventilating and because I felt like I was going to pass out. I had cramps on my hands and my body was so weak I couldn't even make myself sit straight, and wasn't able to walk or stand on my own. Nevertheless when I got to the ER, I start to recover and the doctors said my ECG was normal, they also tested my blood and it was okay as well. All of these events happened to me when I was at rest.
I also have persistent backpain on my lower back which sometimes goes up to my neck whenever I am feeling extremely tired or is having palpitations. Does this have anything to do with my heart?
My cardiologist would often told me to rush to the ER if I experience shortness of breath, but I experience it so often that I just ignore it because I would usually recover within 15 minutes or so.
So I would only go to the ER if I am starting to feel like I'm going to pass out, which I never did.
Is there a possibility that the hole unclosed enlarges? I go see my cardiologist on a yearly basis but for the past 20 years all the tests shown shows that everything is ok.
I would recommend you Holter monitoring, chest X ray and thyroid profile
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. It's unlikely due to the ASD and VSD problem that you had earlier. As you are on regular follow up, this makes them even more unlikely cause.
The symptoms you are experiencing can happen in various other problems such as, arrhythmias, thyroid dysfunction, peptic ulcer disease etc.
I would recommend you to take the following measures:
1. Good physical activity if you have sedentary lifestyle and over weight.
2. To rule out any arrhythmias, holter monitoring will help. You may also take your cardiologist opinion on this.
3. Thyroid profile and Chest X Ray
4. Take plenty of fluids with feeds. Avoid alcoholic beverages and smoking. A healthy lifestyle is key to many health benefits.
5. Avoid stress. Stress can cause the symptoms you are experiencing.
You may take Tablet Omeprazole before breakfast. This will help in gastritis.
Hopefully this will help you. In case of any further questions, I would be happy to help you out.
Take care
