Question: I need to find out what's wrong with my wife. With no warning this morning got nauseated, started dry heaving and has been in continuous dry heaves. Upper stomach pain with severe nausea. I can't find a thermometer but she feels very cool. She's got chills and is hot and sweaty at the same time. She said something about it like when she had gall bladder issues. Wanted me to ask about pancreas.

Brief Answer:
she needs to see a physician

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Whenever anyone becomes this violently ill so suddenly there is a concern that there is a blockage somewhere in the gastrointestinal system. This could be at the level of the pancreas or elsewhere in the small intestine or colon. She needs to be seen by a physician today. If she can not get in to see her regular physician, then she needs to go to Urgent Care or to the Emergency Department. This may just be a severe case of food poisoning, but she needs to be seen to rule out a surgical problem. Please get her seen in person by a physician today.
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
