Brief Answer:
oralcavity, temperature, weight.

Detailed Answer:
Hi thanks for writing to us.

Went through your query in detail.

Firstly check your baby s oral cavity for any rashes or whitish plaques. Nipple shield can some times cause oral cavity infection so as a result of pain the baby may not suck well.

Secondly check for any fever , decreased activity, weight loss, decreased urine out put. Infections in general can also cause poor sucking of the baby.

Avoiding nipple shield will be better, switch over to syringing technique to straighten the nipple for better results. All you need is a clean plastic syringe of 5 cc. front end should be cut , the piston introduced from the front end, the back end should be placed over the nipple and a vaccum created by pulling the piston backwards. Youtube will provide good videos.

Its hard to say without examining the baby, so kindly get your pediatrician to properly examine the baby for better results.

Thank you, regards, hope i have cleared your doubts.
