
Blood Test Showed Ldl Cholesterol 148 Against 130, RBC Count 3.76. What Does This Mean?

Question: My fathers blood test reports came out as follows-
Ldl Cholesterol 148 against 130 XXXXXX RBC count 3.76 against min 4.6, MCV 107 against XXXXXX 96, MCH 36 against 34.

1. LDL cholesterol is high, it may increase the risk of heart attack and brain stroke. Low fat diet can be taken in consultation with dietician. 30 min per day exercise such as brisk walking is also recommended. Recheck cholesterol after three months, if still high, medicines may be started.
2. Low RBC count and high MCV may suggest anaemia due to low vitamin B12 or folic acid. Serum vitamin B12 and folic acid levels may be checked and treated if found to be low.
