The patients who have high risk of HIV are advised post exposure prophylaxis with antiretroviral agents Truvada- the brand name for the medication emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for daily use as a pre-exposure prophylaxis for 28 days is advised. It will only lower the risk of infection but not absolute.
