Question: I am 23 and dealing with hypertension. Have been dealing with some health issues (fluid on my ear and vertigo, but also high blood pressure readings). Had a crisis hypertension 190/123 recently and went to ER. My physician started me on Bystolic 10mg and Sertraline 25mg. I do have some anxiety issues especially when it concerns health issues and suffer with some mild depression. Anxiety is worse than the depression. I took one dose of the Bystolic and Sertraline yesterday and had a horrible night. Felt like my heart rate was too slow (57), arms and legs felt light (weak), felt like I was going to go down, hands clammy and tingling like after being asleep and getting feeling back and couldn't sleep at all and my anxiety worsened because my body felt like I was going to go down. Me and my mother looked up side effects of both meds and found that they both cause insomnia, etc. I've only taken one Sertraline. Are these two drugs ok to take together since they both have some of the same side effects. If both drugs cause a side effect can that increase the severity of the side effect? I can call my Dr. but I feel like he will think I'm just being paranoid because I am a worrier, but I know my body and I know what I'm feeling isn't normal.
