Can Calcitriol Influence The Results Of Radio Iodine Scan?

Question: My wife is going to have radiation treatment for thyroid cancer. She takes a Calcitriol 0.5 mcg, her pharmacist told her it could have RDC red die #3. If it has this will it effect the scan or the dose at the end of the week.

There are various formulations of calcitriol available. You need to check if the particular formulation she is taking has got red XXXXXXX 3 or not. If it does, then it has to be changed before she can undergo radio iodine scan or therapy.
