Can Clexane Shot Cause Hemorrhaging In A Cancer Patient?
Question: I am having cancer treatment and hormone injections. Am about to take a four hour flight then a nine hour flight the following day. My oncologist has prescribed one injection of Clexane 40mg the night before the nine hour flight. Am worried this will cause haemoraging if I dont need it. Also will it have an effect if taken the night before (11 hours before long haul flight)?

Cancer is a cause of deep venous thrombosis. Moreover, prolonged sitting as in a flight is also a risk factor for DVT. You must take the clexane injection as prescribed by your doctor as it will prevent DVT. DVT can be life threatening.
The risk of bleeding by clexane is minimal and the benefits are much much more, so do not worry and go ahead with it.
