Can Doxycycline Be Taken For MRSA?

MRSA
Detailed Answer:
Thank for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
YOur daughter contracted MRSA and was treated with an antibiotics but she developed an allergy to it. This is very common. She has since treated the allergy but now the infection has started again. They are currently treating her with doxycycline. This is the proper treatment. She is getting good care at this time.
MRSA is not a real dangerous bacteria. It just requires different antibiotics to control. For people in the community this is standard treatment. In closed environments like nursing homes and hospitals it is a bigger challenge because of the extra frequency of infections and the higher rate of more resistant bacteria. This is not the flesh eating bacteria you hear about in the news. MRSA is very common now and not as dangerous as the flesh eating bacteria. It can be treated and controlled with routine antibiotics
