Suggest Medication For Rash And Itchy Bruises

I've had a rash for a few weeks and was put on Prednisone. I had an allergic reaction to the Prednisone and was given some cream instead. The rash is better in spots but is spreading to different spots. Also, I am now finding bruises on my body where I was itchy. Help.

Hello,

You are advised to take care of your hygiene, do not go in direct exposure to sunlight. It will cause heat rash. Do not share toiletries with anyone, get all your clothes washed in hot water. Take bath regularly. Apply a water based moisturizer after bath so that the skin does not get dry. Do not scratch, touch or pick.

To prevent itching and discomfort, take antihistamine at bedtime for 3-5 days for relief. You can apply ointment hydrocortisone on the area affected for relief. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Stay away from poison ivy, animal dander, paint, smoke, pollution, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
