Brief Answer:
not likely to get HIV in this way

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
It is not likely that you would get HIV in this way. However, if the woman had HIV it is a slight possibility. I suggest that you get an HIV test now and repeat it again in 3 months. If both are negative then you do not have HIV.
Consider using condoms or gloves when having sexual encounters with unknown partners.
I think it is very unlikely that you would get HIV from the encounter you described but testing is always the safest way to be sure.
Take care of yourself and let me know if you have further questions.

Brief Answer:
not true

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for the follow up.
In certain conditions HIV can live outside the body for several weeks.
Survival depends upon which body fluid it is in, volume of the body fluid, concentration of the virus within it, temperature, acidity, and exposure to sunlight and humidity. Just because your finger was dry does not mean HIV, if it was present, was killed.

Brief Answer:
2-3 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the follow up.
It depends upon the lab but most labs take 2-3 days to get a result after drawing your blood. It is important to get the test now and again in 3 months.

Brief Answer:
unllikely but possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your follow up.
I agree that the chance of contracting HIV is very small in this situation. The highest risk is sex and IV drug use. I suggested testing just because it has been show that HIV can live outside the body and if you got live virus in the tip of your penis it is still possible that you could be infected.
I agree that you are probably be safe but still suggest that you get tested and not engage in this type of activity in the future

doctor
Answered by Dr. Kathy Robinson (26 hours later)
Brief Answer:
yes that is possible

Detailed Answer:
It is true that people can be negative if they were recently infected. That is why we suggest a test now and to repeat it in 3 months. If she tests negative at 3 months then she could not have transmitted it to you
