Question: Dear doctor,
I have had protected oral and V sex with two escorts late september which was so fullish of me. I dont think condoms broke or anything, later i got so anxious and took a rapid hiv test at 4 weeks and it came back negative, it was good sign but anxiouty wouldnt let me go so i took another test standard i guess, i went to my GP in london and they sent the sample to the hospital and it came back negative. It was good but in january, three months later from possible exposure i got sick, had flu, then i didnt care about it and had no symptoms till recenrly i have kinda pain in my knees, its nothing new, i had joint pains and VitaminD deficiancy before as well. But then now i have white tongue which i uplaoded my tongue picture. I heard its one of the signs of hiv. I had white tongue for so many years but dont know if it was this bad, for my flu in january i took antibiatics btw howver Im really worried. Please help me.

Brief Answer:
Not related to HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome to HCM.

You had protected oral as well as vaginal sex both the time so there is no risk for HIV or any other STD. You had taken two tests for HIV, both were negative at 4 weeks and after so no need to worry at all because you are absolutely safe.

White tongue may be due to some other reason but not related to HIV in any way so consult your physician to isolate the cause and follow the treatment regime. You can go for repeat test at present for your satisfaction to get 100% conclusive result. Be relaxed, forget about the past and move ahead.

Having multiple sexual partners is very high risk for HIV so better to stay away from such unsafe sexual practices to prevent the future risk of HIV as well other STDs. If still any doubt left in your mind feel free to ask me any time.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
Due to fear of HIV nothing else.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

As the risk is nil in your case the negative test result at 8 weeks is highly reliable and accurate but for your satisfaction you can take another test which gives 100% conclusive result because the window period also varies from 15 days to 3 months.

The symptoms you have are due to unnecessary fear of HIV nothing else because you are absolutely safe and risk free. Don't get anxious or tensed, forget about the incidence and move on in life. Consider counselling services if needed. For any further query you can write to me any time.

Thank You

Thank you very much for reply.
Do you think these symptoms can be only because of anxiety? Sweating, loss of apetite, dry mouth, white tongue?

Sweating, loss of appetite and other symptoms may be due to extreme anxiety or fear of HIV so just calm down and consult your physician for further management. You can also take help of some psychiatrist if needed.
