Brief Answer:
HIV risk for your son is negligible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
HIV is a highly fragile organism and can not survive outside the body or body fluids not more than few seconds.
Nail clippers used in barber shop cuts nail only if used by experts. Not necessarily contaminated with blood or other body fluids.
The previous customer of barber shop with whom the nail cutter was used was not necessarily a HIV positive individual. Even if we consider that the individual would likely be a HIV positive individual there is no possibility that the nail cutter would have been used within seconds after the previous usage.
So this type of HIV transmission is unusual. No HIV test is necessary for him. In spite of this, if you want to rule out HIV beyond any doubt, you can take up the fourth generation HIV test 12 weeks after the incident to have conclusive result.

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission risk is almost 'nil'

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
That did not make much difference.
There is a chance of contamination with blood while we using nail clipper and certainly not with hair trimmer or clipper. The XXXXXXX caused by the trimmer is unlikely to transmit the virus as HIV can not survive outside the body fluid not more than few seconds.
So the risk of HIV is almost 'NIL' . Testing for HIV is not necessary in your son's case.
