Can Himalaya Serpina Be Taken For Regulating Blood Pressure?
Question: I am mildly hypertensive. My latest BP is 140/82. I am on Asomex 5 medication.
But considering side effects of long term allopathy use, is it better to use Himalaya Serpina as a substitute?

1. Taking treatment for high blood pressure is important so that complications might be avoided. If you change or discontinue taking medications without asking your doctor then there might be serious complications due to sudden increase in blood pressure leading to stroke.
2. Asomex 5 contains amlodipine 5 mg and is a small dose. It is better to do lifestyle modification and take Asomex 5 to control your blood pressure levels. SInce it is 140/ 82 mm Hg therefore it is within control with medications.
3. There are people who are taking allopathic medicines for more than 30 years and are doing well. As long you do not have any serious side effects to the medicine, it is better to continue taking it. Please follow up with your doctor once every 3 months. If you feel that you are having any common side effects including swelling of the ankles or feet, dizziness, fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse then please talk to your doctor.
4. Taking Himalaya serpina has a different mechanism of action and might not control blood pressure well enough.
5. Please do yoga and avoid extra salt in diet for better blood pressure control.
