Can Lyrica Cause Leg Cramps?

Question: I take taken 100 mg of Lyrica a day for sciatica since mid-May. In the last two weeks, I have had
Ankle leg cramps that are severe. Is this a side effect of Lyrica?

Lyrica is unlikely to cause ankle cramps.

Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion ,the ankle cramps are not caused by your medicine. They are probably caused by Pressure on the nerve -Sciatica.
Get a MRI of L S Spine to see the status of nerves .The treatment will be according to diagnosis.

I forgot to say the cramps are at night. Does that make a difference?
Also, last night, I had a calf cramp in the leg unaffected by sciatica.

In my lower spine has lessened symptoms.

May be spinal canal stenosis.

If the cramps are at night and in other leg also , then there are chances of spinal canal stenosis causing pressure on nerves. If the MRI is not suggestive of any major problem, then we have to think in terms of hypovitaminosis D. Please start Vit D Supplementation along with calcium and wait for 5-6 weeks before any new treatment.
